Last January we took a trip over to Budapest, for a cold, wintry but lovely long weekend away. Just me and the wife this time, which meant we could take our time walking around the city and eating plenty of delicious food! Plenty of Goulash and Paprikash!

The city is beautiful, we stayed in a little apartment overlooking Parliament, which is lit up at night giving us a spectacular view. Plenty of places to get something good to eat on pretty much every corner, with prices ranging from a couple of quid for a main meal, to £15 (we decided to treat ourselves on the last night).

The indoor market was great and the stalls selling mulled wine were a godsend in the cold!

Lovely place with lots of history (some not so pleasant though) and amazing architecture everywhere you look. Would thoroughly recommend it for a long weekend away.
