In October we grabbed a last minute deal for a holiday to one of the Greek Islands, it was far cheaper than we could’ve booked on our own (£500 for all 3 of us, including flights and accommodation!)  and the plan was for a nice relaxing week exploring the local town and swimming in the pool 🙂

The plan didn’t quite work out, as the swimming pool at the hotel was freezing and a lot of the local town was shutting down as it was the end of the tourist season… But we had a lovely time anyway. The sea was really warm, clear, and shallow, perfect for swimming in and jumping over waves, which Jessica loved! The food was all amazing and Zante Town was only a short taxi ride away.

We spent a couple of days exploring the town, the church in the city centre and the port one day, and a lovely walk around the grounds of the Venetian Castle another. Despite it being mid-October, it was still 25 degrees C most of the week, we only had the hint of a storm rolling in on the very last day.

Sadly there’s not a huge amount of history left on the island due to a series of earthquakes in the 1950s, but you couldn’t ask for friendlier people or nicer food, would definitely recommend it as a peaceful getaway. Although, probably not so peaceful in the high season
